The puppies are just over 4 weeks old and weighing about 6 pounds. Their personalities are starting to show more and more. Adorable does not come close to describing these little doodles! We have begun the weaning process. It seems to be going smoothly so far and we think Molly is ready for them to eat their own meals as well. As any mother with a nursing newborn she is ready for restful sleep. We prepare a mix a ground up puppy kibble and 2nd step formula with an added scoop of plain yogurt to keep their digestive systems moving with this big change! They all huddle around the dish together and share the meal, it is pretty cute.
In addition to the weaning process, we have introduced them to their new large play area. They are growing fast and during the day need room to learn to run around, wrestle and play with toys. They especially enjoy the crinkle tunnel (made for cats generally). They roll it around and run through as fast as they can, entertainment at its best! They are learning to chew toys and push around balls with their noses. We have a Puppy Sounds CD that plays during the day that will familiarize them with typical sounds they may encounter in their day to day life such as a crying baby, fireworks, thunder, beeping car horn, etc. At night they snuggle up in their whelping box and sleep very well. We do not hear a peep out of the tired little squirts all night!
Each of the puppies will go to their Forever Home with a Snuggle Puppy stuffed animal and a puppy blanket. We keep these near their area to absorb the scent of Molly and their litter mates. We hope this is a comfort to them as they eventually transition to their new homes around 8 weeks of age.
We have 3 puppy reservations still available! Puppy Picks will start this week! If you are interested, fill out a Forever Home Application!
